Eating food to feel sick

Some people have the habit of repeatedly eating food that makes them feel sick. It is a kind of addiction. Before eating the food, there is only the consideration of its taste. Once eaten, then comes the ill feeling that is the intention of the behavior. It is a typical addiction.

I’m writing about this because its an addiction i have had all my life, and i have recently made significant progress with it. Suddenly I’m eating much less sugar, and feeling much better.

I have tried to resolve this issue for a long time, but only recently I was direct enough with myself to acknowledge to actual consequences of my addiction. I realized i was eating sugary foods in order to feel sick.

As an adult, this makes no sense at all. This refusal to acknowledge things that dont make sense is part of the denial, part of the addiction. Because it is not logical, nonsensical, we can avoid considering the actual reality of the situation. However, the decision to employ this lifestyle strategy was not made as an adult. It was made in the early years of life.  A child can easily make such a decision, because it is without an understanding of the long term consequences. The decision is made to achieve a short term goal. The decision is very logical.

Sick is safe.

This is the logic that solves the childhood problem. When a child feels sick, they are less likely to receive anger from the adults around them. They are less likely to resist and fight against treatment they dont like, and therefore less likely to engage in a confrontation with adults which results in suffering. They may even get sympathy and care. Either way, for some children, being sick leads to a better life.

As a child, we decide “Im going to be like this from now on”. We dont decide “Im going to be like this until …”. As children we make decisions “from now on”. These decisions apply until we undo them. no matter how deeply they are hidden in our unconscious minds. They control our lives until they are undone.

Only when i made the connection between sickness and safety, could i make progress with my addiction. I spent a while thinking in different ways about the issue, but only when i considered it in this way did i start eating less sugar.

I used a guided visualization to address this childhood decision and undo it. I used a process by Christopher Howard called the “Decision Destroyer”. Its not the only guided visualization that can undo obsolete childhood decisions. There are others that will work just fine. I have also used visualizations by Brandon Bays that have been really effective. And i have used visualizations i have created myself “on the fly”. My experience is that the results of doing visualizations are permanent. Once the childhood decision is changed, there is no relapse, because the cause is removed.

Smartphones and human nature

8 years ago, the first iPhone was released. Now, nearly 2 billion humans have a smartphone.

With smartphones, humans change the way they interact with loved ones. They spend less time in direct social contact, and a lot more time in remote social contact. This is a consequence of human nature. Humans have the capacity to meet part of their fundamental need for social contact by using a digital device to stay aware of the mindset and activities of their loved ones. This need arises from the desire to feel safe. The sense of safety is partly dependent on social contact with loved ones.

The capacity to meet this need remotely has already produced successful industries. First the postal industry, then the telephony industry. Now the internet industry. All grown primarily from the need for social contact that can be met remotely.

Although it must always be preceded by direct personal contact, remote contact allows humans to be more adventurous in their lifestyle. They can travel yet stay in touch. Smartphones expand the capacity for humans to leave their home environment and follow the desire to travel and live differently. This, in turn, increases the cultural and lifestyle change that each generation can achieve.

In less than ten years, nearly 1/4 of the human race has changed the way they interact socially. they will be more adventurous, more inclined to change their thinking, more inclined to reject the values that currently exist. This process has happened in the past. But not so quickly, and not the whole world at once.

This is the revolution that is taking place in the human race. Humans are in the middle of it, creating it, yet without knowing how significant it is.

The mind is trying to be I

The mind is trying to be the I of you. It believes this is the best way, as it was taught by other minds. It truly believes in its separateness. The mind is correct about it being separate from other minds.

However, the mind also believes that its consciousness is also derived from its separateness, and that its consciousness is therefore fragile, in need of protection. This is not correct.

In protecting what it believes it possesses, the mind lives in a mindset of precariousness, of fear. It busies itself with safety and comfort.

The real I of you is not inconvenienced by this. The real I of you, the universal consciousness, is not just participating, it is the inventor and controller.

Once the mind realises this, it stops trying to protect itself. It allows the real I of you to direct it. For this to occur, the mind only needs to understand. To understand, the mind only needs the time to observe. Time that it will not think to spare, while trying to protect its self imposed fragility.

Getting upset about other peoples business

The intention of media services is to engage our mental energy, to trigger our reaction, positive or negative. That is the purpose and the business model of the media. They choose topics, and emply a style, that is primarily to extract profit.

However, we then get upset about things that are not our business. Then, we neglect our intended role in the world. We neglect our own business. In reality, the media is another form of gossip. We may choose to focus on gossip, in any of its many forms, as a way of avoiding our own business. Perhaps we are already disempowered and we wish to place our attention on other peoples business, so that we can manage our feelings of disempowerment. We only disempower ourselves more, and distance ourselves further from our true nature.

Our place in life is ideal for us to deal with our business. What the universe places in front of us, that is our business. It is our role to take care of that business, to do what is right, to use the truth as a tool to heal the world around us.
When we get caught up in news about other peoples business, we expend our mental energy on those things, and we are unable to take care of our own business.

To get lost in the world of news is to neglect the maintenance of our own world. It is not that we should be uninformed: we should inform ourselves in a way that empowers us. It is certainly in our interests to avoid sources of information that extract our mental energy and leave us powerless to improve our own world.

When we return to our own business, and take care of those things around us, we naturally find that we are powerful. We use the power given to us to act in our own business – power that cannot be used on other peoples business.

Fasting, the most powerful medicine

Fasting, once known as a necessary part of staying healthy, has become forgotten in modern cultures. We are encouraged by governments and industry to eat every single day, and to take medicine for any problems with our health. Following this advice is guaranteed to cause chronic health problems.

In order for our bodies to heal, our immune systems must be free from other demands. That is because the primary task of our immune systems is to help digest food. While the immune system is doing this, it cannot do healing work effectively. Have you noticed those times when you were really sick and just didnt feel like eating? Trust the body to know what is best. At those times, it needs you to stop eating so it can focus on healing.

Can you repair a car while driving? Can you clean out a  water tank when it is full? Some things can only be done while stopped. Healing can only be done when there is no digesting to distract the immune system.

Only when fasting, can the body and immune system really get to work on those things that need repairing in the body. Clear out the digestive system and do some maintenance, heal those old injuries that never completely healed. Cure chronic illness and other body imbalances. Fasting can do all these things, because it is the only time that your immune system is able to act with its full capacity.
